The first month

Preston was a month old on the 17th. So much happens in a baby's first month. They grow a lot and start forming a personality. He is getting so big...he eats and eats and eats! I don't know how much he weighs now...but I can tell you that I've had to readjust his car seat straps 3 times since his first trip home!

His newborn clothes are barely fitting him and he's getting rolls on his arms and legs...along with a double chin! He also moved up to size 1 diapers...no more newborn :(.

We have had some trouble with sleeping. He is still awake every 2 hours to eat (if not more often)...all night long. He's also got some tummy/gas issues. He'll just cry and cry for no reason...after he's been fed, burped and changed. We are trying to get a handle on it! He doesn't like to go to sleep either...he really fights it when his little eyes start to close. Poor boy just doesn't want to miss out on anything! He has recently allowed me to lay him down on a blanket on the floor...and he'll just look around for a while. This is a huge improvement! For a while there he wouldn't let me put him down! He has also learned to accept his swing. The first few times we tried it out, he just screamed the whole time he was in there! Jared has a nickname for him....SCREECH! He has this really loud scream that he does, just before he starts crying...it's hilarious.

He is much more alert now, he even seems to be trying to laugh when I tickle him. Jared got a huge grin out of him the other day...it was adorable. He still giggles in his sleep....I just wonder what he's dreaming about!

The kids are really enjoying him. You can just see how much they love him when they look at him. Caile told me the other day that our baby is cuter than any other baby she's ever seen! I told her she's already learned how to be biased! It's really cute. They all love to hold the baby too, but don't do it very often because of how fussy he's been. They hold him for a minute, then he starts crying. It will get better...just have to give it a couple of months! I told Jared that I was hoping for an easy baby, after a very uncomfortable pregnancy....but no luck! He's definitely a handful...but I LOVE him anyway! We are so blessed to have such a beautiful new son.

And who can't resist baby toes...just had to throw that in there!

2 weeks!

Preston is growing so fast....he turned 2 weeks old on Monday. Had his check up with the doctor and is doing really well. They were a little worried about his weight when we left the hospital because he'd lost 7 oz in 2 days. We rechecked his weight 2 days later and he'd lost another oz. and was down to 6 lbs. 1 oz. At his 2 week check up he weighed 7 lbs 6 oz! Can you believe it?! Little fatty gained a lot of weight! I think I just have good milk. He also grew 1 3/4 inches...for a grand total of 19 3/4 inches. He's getting some chunky little cheeks and his little arms and legs are getting fat. He is still tiny but he'll be big soon!
