What a Day!

Last Thursday was one heck of a day. It started out with the landscapers showing up at 7 a.m. and pretty much being as noisy as possible. I got up and peaked outside to see how it was going. All was well until my husband left for work and one of the guys asked me to move my car so he could move the boat. He needed to get his tractor to the back yard. I moved my car and then went to talk to the neighbor who was leaving that day for vacation. Meanwhile, I watched the boat being pulled up the hill on the street by a tractor. Just as I crossed my driveway I heard a snap, a crunch, and then the landscaper say "NO!" I jumped into the neighbor's lawn and see the boat start flying down the hill, toward a car that was parked on the road. Just before it hit the car, it turned suddenly, jumped the curb, and headed toward my house. Seriously, all I could do was turn my head, cover my eyes and wait for the crunch. I was completely helpless! There is nothing you can do to stop a 3500 lb boat! After the noise stopped, I looked up, expecting to see my house crunched in and the boat hanging half way out. However, when I looked up, the boat was sitting in my front yard, looking like it was parked there....about 8 inches from my house. The landscaper was looking at the house and the boat, making sure there was nothing wrong. The house was completely fine, and the boat only had a prop bent, and slight damage to the trailer....which he fixed! So....after having my heart beat about 500/minute, I went inside to have a little rest. I slept for probably an hour or so, but just didn't feel good all day. I had a doctor appointment at 2 that day for my 36 week check up, so I got ready and headed out. During my drive I had multiple braxton hick contractions, about 5 in an hour. While waiting to see my doctor, I had what seemed like the longest contraction ever and it eased up just as the doctor walked in. The first thing he did was listen for the baby's heart. I wasn't super worried that it took him a minute to find the heartbeat because I could feel the baby move, but when he found it, the heartbeat was slow and we could hear the "gallop" rhythm. I tried not to panic. He said, "hmmm, the baby had a deceleration. I'm gonna have you go to labor and delivery so they can watch him for a while. We don't like to deliver babies this early, but we will if we have to." So, I got over there quick...luckily the hospital is right next door to the doctor's office. All I could think was how I was going to have an emergency C-section, right after the baby finally got head down! My husband was on his way to the hospital, after I called him. He said that all he could think was that we didn't have a car seat yet! lol. The things we think about! They got me all hooked up and the baby's heart rate was normal. It did speed up every time I had a braxton hick, but it never went down....thankfully! The doctor said that because the one I had at his office lasted so long, the baby probably had a hard time recovering from it. I was told to come back if I had any worsening contractions...but it's pretty much been the same since then. The sad thing is, the doctor didn't check my cervix before I left his office, and the nurse didn't check me at the hospital because she didn't want to cause more problems if there were any. So, I don't know if I'm dilating or thinning at all. I'm on weekly visits now, so if nothing happens before then, I'm sure I'll find out soon. I told Jared that the landscaper was just trying to put me into labor that day! Luckily, we didn't have an emergency C-section or an early baby....and our house survived! Unfortunate for my daughter, it was her birthday, so she had an interesting day too. Her party isn't until next weekend, so we didn't have to cancel anything or have a rushed party. Last year I had a D&C on her birthday....poor girl. What a day!

Oh my gosh! I think my water would have broken right on the spot if I saw my boat launching toward my house!
